Math Department's New "No Zero Policy"

Math Department's New "No Zero Policy"

In order to assist students in ensuring they complete the required practice (assignments) in their Math classes, we have put into place a new “No Zero Policy."  As a department, we believe that math requires practice. By implementing this new policy, we believe that this will create accountability for the students to complete the required practice as well as create a time that students can receive extra support in their learning.

Students who have not turned in three or more homework assignments will be assigned by their teachers to lunch detention in a Math classroom in order to get the required assignments completed with support from a teacher if needed. If students do not attend the assigned lunch detention, they will be referred to an administrator who will then assign lunch detention with a Math teacher. If the students do not attend the assigned lunch detention, they will then attend half day of ISS.

Students will have a pass from their teachers stating they will be allowed to go to their Math teacher’s classroom during lunch. Additionally, this pass will allow them to be in the front of the line in the cafeteria to get their lunch. They must be in their Math classroom within the first ten minutes of lunch in order to receive credit for attending lunch detention.
