WOODWORKING 1- 0417A

Content:~ Correct and safe use of tools and equipment is emphasized in conjunction with the woodworking processes. The Sem 1 class initially concentrates on eligibility to use machinery by Passing Safety Tests. Introduces students to the various types of wood used in industry, and offers experience in using selected woodworking tools. Students prepare a bill of materials design and construct one or two projects. Students in woodworking classes and become familiar with various kinds of wood finishing materials.

Lab Fee: $5 per sem.

Content:~ With the understanding & experience of Prerequisite Class the student will enhance Woodworking knowledge & skills. Some new tools and equipment will be introduced in conjunction with passing safety test for some new machinery. Students prepare a bill of materials design and construct multiple projects. Time for working on projects in this class is increased by 4+ weeks.

BASIC WELDING -- 2414

Duration: All Year Credit: 1

Elective: Grades 10, 11, 12

Materials: Coveralls, safety goggles, gloves, padlock, and funds for own project. Lab Fee: $5 per sem.

Content: Welding is designed to introduce the student to the basic skills necessary in the welding industry or in the home shop. The skills included are project planning and drawing, estimating a bill of materials, tool identifying, repairing and sharpening tools, arc welding, oxyacetylene cutting and welding, braze welding, and shield gas arc welding. Ample time is provided for the student to work on inpidual projects. Students who wish to pursue welding as a career should enroll in CTE Welding.

WELDING 2 (Advanced) --2495

Duration: All Year Credit: 1.0

Elective: Grades 11-12 Lab Fee: $5 per sem.

Materials: Safety goggles, funds for own project.

Prerequisite: Welding 1 or instructor approval

Content: Course provides students with related skills and knowledge necessary or desirable for careers in welding or machine technologies. The presentation of particular topics and skills, or their applications, may vary with the occupation or technology. For example, mathematics for welding students may differ in some respects from mathematics for machining students.
